Swollen Eye (1994)

Performed in a 20,000-foot warehouse turned boxing gym, Swollen Eye featured hanging mechanical sculptures, a 26-foot tornado costume, a 300-gallon indoor waterfall, and a fiberglass staircase of clothes. Visualizing one’s body as a complete weather system, the performance became a metaphor for the sometimes stormy and sometimes serene human emotional condition. Rather than characters, the performers took on the role of elements moving in response to each other.
